OVERVIEW OF OUR PROGRAM
South Berwyn Middle School D100

The 21st Century Community Learning Center at South Berwyn Middle School program is a partnership and collaboration between Northeastern Illinois University's Center for College Access and Success and the South Berwyn School District 100.

Services are offered at five elementary schools to students and their parents who are enrolled in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.

NEIU offers services to students and parents Monday through Friday after school. The services included:

Tutoring/Mentoring/Academic Growth
Enrichment Academic Experiences
Cultural Immersion Experiences
Personal and Professional workshops

*Services are funded by Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) 21st CCLC grant.

Program Services Fall & Spring

TUTORING

Engaging students in learning connected to in-school academic content through relationship building

Students meets Monday through Friday for an hour and fifteen minutes to increase their academic knowledge and learning skills.

LEGO SPIKE CLUB

Introduction to computational thinking & Block-based programming

Students meets weekly for 1.5 hrs to learn about robotics, build robots and develop academic skills in Engineering and Coding

ANIMATION CLUB

Introduction to computational thinking & Design Thinking

Students meets weekly for 1.5 hrs to learn about design approaches to creating video games and animations while coding.

FOLKLORIC CLUB

Introduction to Mexican folklore & dance

Students meets weekly for 1.5 hrs to engage in the connection of Mexican culture through history of dance from many regions and participation in perfomrances
