OVERVIEW OF OUR PROGRAM
Cicero Elementary D99
The 21st Century Community Learning Center at Cicero Elementary School program is a partnership and collaboration between Northeastern Illinois University's Center for College Access and Success and the Cicero School District 99.
Services are offered at five elementary schools to students and their parents who are enrolled in 4th, 5th and 6th grade.
NEIU offers services to students and parents Monday through Friday after school. The services included:
Enrichment Academic Experiences
Cultural Immersion Experiences
Personal and Professional workshops
*Services are funded by Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) 21st CCLC grant.
Program Services Fall & Spring
Engaging students in learning connected to in-school academic content through relationship building
Students meets Monday through Friday for an hour and fifteen minutes to increase their academic knowledge and learning skills.
LEGO SPIKE CLUB
Introduction to computational thinking & Block-based programming
Students meets weekly for 1.5 hrs to learn about robotics, build robots and develop academic skills in Engineering and Coding
Introduction to computational thinking & Design Thinking
Students meets weekly for 1.5 hrs to learn about design approaches to creating video games and animations while coding.
Introduction to Mexican folklore & dance
Students meets weekly for 1.5 hrs to engage in the connection of Mexican culture through history of dance from many regions and participation in perfomrances
Introduction to Design Thinking and Maker Actvities
Students meets weekly for 1.5 hrs to learn about different medium for art creation.
